UPSC Civil Service Exam pattern

The UPSC IAS examination pattern is formed by the Union Public Service Commission. In this pattern there are 3 papers which have 400 marks every, with each paper of 2 hours duration. The UPSC Prelims has 2 papers which are General Studies (Paper 1) and CSAT (Paper 2). CSAT is just qualifying in nature which means it won't be counted towards final rank.

UPSC IAS examination pattern and syllabus details: UPSC IAS examination conducted in three stages. Preliminary exam, main exam and interview. There are two papers in preliminary exam. Paper one is general studies with 200 marks. Paper two is optional subject paper consisting 300 marks. UPSC Examination Pattern – Prelims, Mains, Personality Test

The UPSC Civil Services Exam pattern describes the scheme of the Civil Services Exam in detail. The Civil Services Aptitude Test or CSAT is a competitive exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for recruitment of officers for the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, and several other Group A and Group B services. The Exam which is held annually in three stages: Preliminary Examination, Mains Examination, and Personality Test.

The UPSC civil services exam consists of a preliminary examination, a main(written) examination and an interview.

The UPSC has released the preliminary exam pattern for 2015. The preliminary exam, also called the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT), consists of 2 papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2) for a total of 400 marks. Only Paper 1 is qualifying in nature. You need a minimum of 33% marks to qualify this paper. This paper is necessary to sit for the main exam. Both Paper I and Paper II are should be attempted within two hours, with 200 questions each carrying two marks in both the papers.(- 1 mark for every wrong answer).
